Insurance & Financial Advisor CPD
Digital CPD certificates for insurance & financial advisors
CPD cycles repeat every year, and so do the audits. TRUE issues blockchain secured CPD certificates for insurance brokerages, advisory firms and CPD training providers: fixed at the moment of issue, verifiable by QR scan in seconds, published on your own domain, and issued automatically from the LMS you already run.
TL;DR
A CPD certificate is evidence, and evidence is judged by whether someone outside your firm can test it. TRUE issues CPD certificates as digital documents secured on a blockchain at the moment of issue, each with a QR code and a permanent verification link on your own domain. A compliance officer, a regulator or an acquiring firm scans the code and sees the credential, the issuer and the issuance timestamp immediately. Because the record cannot be edited afterwards, the question of whether a date was moved never arises. Issuance runs automatically from Canvas, Moodle, Learnster or a five endpoint REST API when an advisor completes a course or reaches an annual hour threshold.
- Fixed at issue. Blockchain secured, so an edited certificate fails the check.
- Audit on demand. QR scan shows credential, issuer and timestamp, with no login.
- Automated per cycle. Issue on course completion or at an hour threshold, in bulk.
What CPD does an insurance or advice firm have to evidence?
A recurring annual minimum, set by whichever regulator licenses the firm, plus a record that shows it happened. In the EU the Insurance Distribution Directive fixes a floor of 15 hours a year. The UK and Australia set higher figures for advice roles, and each regime expects the firm to keep the evidence rather than the individual.
- EU: at least 15 hours of professional training or development per year. Article 10(2) of the Insurance Distribution Directive requires insurance and reinsurance intermediaries and the relevant staff of insurance undertakings to meet continuing professional training and development requirements on that basis. - UK: 35 hours of CPD in each 12 month period for a retail investment adviser, of which no fewer than 21 hours should be structured activity. Source: FCA Handbook TC 2.1.15R, Training and Competence sourcebook.
- Australia: 40 hours of CPD per CPD year for relevant providers, with licensee approval required for 70% of it. Source: ASIC, professional standards for financial advisers.
Every cycle produces a new evidence trail that a compliance team has to defend. Most teams still defend it with PDFs, spreadsheets and screenshots from an inbox, and that fails the moment a regulator, a senior auditor or an acquiring firm asks for proof.
Why does blockchain matter for CPD evidence?
Because it settles four arguments a compliance team would otherwise have to win with paperwork. The record is fixed at issue, retrievable without a file server, independent of any vendor, and testable by the person asking rather than by you.
Nobody can move the date
Once issued, the record cannot be altered. Issuance timestamp, issuer identity and credential fields are locked in on the chain.
No hunting for the 2024 email
The credential is permanently retrievable through its link or QR code. There is no file server to search and no inbox to dig through.
The migration cannot lose it
The evidence is not tied to your file server or your LMS vendor. The blockchain record stands on its own.
The auditor checks it themselves
Verification is public and instant, and does not depend on anyone from your team being available.
TRUE writes documents to established blockchains: Ethereum, AVAX, Fantom and Polygon. Recipients and verifiers need to know nothing about any of that. They click a link or scan a code.
How does issuance work for brokerages and advisory firms?
The LMS keeps doing the teaching and the tracking, and calls TRUE when a threshold is met. Nothing changes for trainers or learners except what arrives at the end: a branded verification page on your domain instead of a PDF attachment.
Connect the LMS
Canvas, Moodle and Learnster integrate directly. A five endpoint REST API covers anything custom.
Trigger issuance automatically
When an advisor completes a course or reaches an annual hour threshold, your system calls TRUE and the certificate issues in seconds.
Deliver on your domain
The advisor receives a branded certificate page on your own domain, not a generic PDF and not a supplier branded link.
Verify on demand
Compliance officers, regulators or transaction teams scan the QR code. Credential, issuer and timestamp display immediately.
Which CPD documents does TRUE cover?
The full range a regulated distribution business issues, from annual hour evidence to specialist credentials. Each document type carries its own template, fields and branding inside one account.
IDD aligned CPD certificates
Annual hour evidence for EU insurance distributors operating under the Insurance Distribution Directive.
MiFID II knowledge and competence
Records for investment firms and advisers under EU markets in financial instruments standards.
AML and counter terrorist financing
Recurring refreshers for advisers and back office staff. Bulk issuance keeps an annual programme practical.
Ethics and conduct training
Sensitive topics where the evidence matters most. A fixed record shows what was completed, by whom and when.
Mortgage broker continuing education
State, national and EU programmes, with verifiable evidence for licensing boards and renewal cycles.
Pension and retirement planning
Specialist credentials for advisers handling long horizon products that require ongoing competency proof.
Wealth management firm credentials
Internal expertise tracks issued at scale across advisers and investment teams.
Industry association CPD programmes
For bodies running multi firm training and accreditation, with one dashboard for consistent issuance.
What does TRUE claim, and what does it not claim?
TRUE does not claim to satisfy IDD, MiFID II, FCA, ASIC or any other named regulation. That judgement sits with you, your compliance officer and your regulator. What TRUE supports is the evidence side of those obligations: issuance that cannot be edited after the fact, and verification that takes seconds.
Blockchain secured
Each CPD certificate is written to a blockchain, so it cannot be quietly edited, backdated or reissued.
eIDAS compliant
Aligned with EU electronic identification and trust services standards for digital evidence.
Verified by anyone
Authenticity is confirmed through a QR code or verification link, without contacting your team.
On your own domain
Certificates live on the issuer's domain, so the audit trail points back to you.
Is a PDF CPD certificate good enough for an audit?
It is good enough until someone asks whether it is the certificate you issued. A PDF proves that a file exists, not that its contents are unchanged. The table below sets out what moves when the evidence is verifiable on demand.
| Capability | PDF CPD certificate | TRUE CPD certificate |
|---|---|---|
| Resistance to editing | Editable in any PDF tool | Blockchain anchored at issue |
| Regulator verification | Manual check, slow | QR or link, seconds |
| Annual hour tracking | Spreadsheet reconciliation | Structured metadata per certificate |
| Lives on your domain | No domain | Yes, branded page on your firm's domain |
| Shareable by the adviser | Static image, low engagement | One click add to LinkedIn |
| Renewal automation | Manual reissuing each cycle | REST API and LMS integration |
| Transaction due diligence | Inconsistent file shares | Permanent, public, verifiable |
| Long term verifiability | Records degrade as firms change systems | Verifiable on chain |
Which features do compliance teams use most?
The ones that answer an auditor without a project. CPD evidence is judged by compliance, audit and risk functions, so the platform is built around what those teams ask for first.
Immutable audit trail
Issuance timestamps, issuer identity and credential fields are locked in. No edits, no backdating, no missing evidence.
eIDAS compliant
Relevant for EU regulated entities working to common trust standards for electronic identification and trust services.
Cyber Hygiene Certified
TRUE's own security posture is independently certified by OneMore Secure. We work to the standard we help customers prove.
Branding on your domain
Keeps your firm's identity in front of advisers, recipients and any third party that verifies a credential.
Engagement analytics
See when and where certificates are opened or shared, which is useful for renewal reminders and reporting.
Bulk and API issuance
Issue annually, quarterly or per event without manual work. The REST API handles thousands of certificates in one run.
Who else issues regulated evidence with TRUE?
Bodies whose documents get checked by people with no reason to be generous. Bolagsverket, Sweden's government Companies Registration Office, ran a blockchain credentialing project with TRUE, and SSF, a Swedish security authority, issues its training certificates through the platform.
Platform figures, which are TRUE's own data rather than third party research: more than 500,000 documents secured, more than 200 organisations, in over 15 countries. See how the same approach works for digital credentials in regulated industries.
What do CPD providers and advisory firms ask?
The questions below come up in most evaluations from brokerages, advisory firms and CPD providers. For neighbouring requirements, see financial services compliance training certificates.
Does TRUE satisfy IDD, MiFID II, FCA or ASIC CPD requirements?
No platform can claim it satisfies a named regulation, because only your regulator decides that. What TRUE supports is the evidence side of those regimes: proof of issuance that cannot be edited afterwards, an immutable audit trail, and verification a third party can perform without your help.
Will our existing LMS work?
Canvas, Moodle and Learnster integrate directly. For anything else the REST API has five endpoints, and most engineering teams ship that integration in days rather than months.
Are TRUE certificates legally valid?
TRUE provides secure verifiable digital documents and is eIDAS compliant within the EU framework for electronic identification and trust services. Legal validity in a specific use case depends on your jurisdiction and your internal policies, so confirm it with your compliance counsel.
Do certificates live on TRUE's domain?
No. Certificates are published on the issuing firm's own domain with your branding, which keeps the audit trail pointing at the actual issuer rather than at a supplier.
How tamper resistant are the certificates?
Each certificate is written to a blockchain at issue and cannot be edited afterwards. A PDF can be altered with a free tool and a TRUE certificate cannot, which is the practical difference when an auditor asks whether the date was changed.
Can advisors share their CPD certificates?
Yes. Recipients get a shareable verified link they can post on LinkedIn, include in a proposal or hand to a new employer. Verification is public and does not expire.
What about data residency and privacy?
TRUE is a Swedish company headquartered in Stockholm, operating under EU data protection standards. Its own security posture is independently certified through the Cyber Hygiene Certification issued by OneMore Secure.
How fast can we go live?
Pilot programmes usually run on dashboard or email based issuing within days. Full LMS integrated automation depends on your stack, but most CPD providers are issuing live certificates within a few weeks of starting.
What do TRUE customers say?
“A clear advantage of our new digital certificates is how easily they can be added as a reference to LinkedIn or a digital CV. The ease of use and verifiability creates trust!”
“It was great to see that my document was secured. It adds more value to the process and feels like better and more modern proof of certification.”
Make CPD evidence audit ready
If your firm issues CPD certificates to insurance distributors, financial advisers, mortgage brokers or pension specialists, make the evidence as durable as the obligation.
