Received this while working as an independent fractional COO and Chief of Staff, moving from corporate operations leadership into advisory and board-level roles. Runs own business as a fractional COO and operations and technology leader, partnering with founders and business leaders. Builds AI into how small businesses operate, and now makes the decisions and drives the outcomes. At Factor Law built out the information security, compliance and technology functions while the business invested in AI-enabling its services. Prioritised the risks to manage, built teams' capability in new ways of working, and built tools and processes designed to outlast individual skills and tenure. Makes and owns decisions end to end as an independent founder, outside a corporate structure. Learned it by building and running own ventures. Building a fractional COO and advisory practice, with a focus on building AI into how founders and small businesses operate. Developing guides and templates that package what was learned into products others can use.
