IT certifications decide who gets hired and who gets access to production systems, and the paper version of one proves nothing about itself. TRUE issues certifications as blockchain secured digital credentials that a recruiter, a client or a security team can verify by scanning a QR code, including whether the credential is still current.

Why is IT certification verification broken?

Because the credential and the proof are separate things, and only the credential travels with the candidate. CISSP, AWS and CompTIA certifications carry real weight in hiring and access decisions, but the artefact presented is usually a PDF or a printout that cannot demonstrate its own authenticity.

Paper certificates prove nothing

A printed certificate is a design. It carries no mechanism that lets a verifier test whether the issuing body ever issued it.

PDF certificates are no better

A PDF can be edited with ordinary software. Change a name, move a date, upgrade a level, and the result looks identical to the real thing.

Manual checks do not scale

Calling certification bodies takes time an HR team processing dozens of candidates does not have, so the check gets skipped and the risk gets accepted.

Expiry goes unnoticed

Many IT certifications need renewal. A certification earned five years ago may no longer be valid, and a printed certificate has no way to say so.

How often do employers check credentials at all?

Less often than the hiring process implies, and the gap is widening as falsification gets easier. Independent UK research finds most organisations outside the largest employers do not verify every academic credential, while the share of employers seeing fraudulent applications is rising. Meanwhile security teams report that missing skills, not missing headcount, is what hurts.

Put those together and the shape of the problem is clear. Teams need specific proven skills, and the document that claims those skills is the one nobody has time to check.

How does blockchain verification work for a certification?

The issuing body writes a cryptographic fingerprint of the credential to a public chain when it issues. Verifying recomputes that fingerprint from the document in front of you and compares the two, which either matches or does not. There is no judgement call and no dependence on the issuer answering the phone. If the certification was issued through TRUE, paste its verification link into TRUE Verify and the comparison runs there and then.

How do expired IT certifications appear when verified?

The credential carries its expiry date, and the verification page shows the status at the moment of the check: active, expired or pending renewal. A verifier sees the current position rather than only the original issue date, which is the difference that matters for certifications on a three year renewal cycle.

Does TRUE track continuing education requirements?
