Open the certificate through the link the student received. It is created straight from TUC’s learning platform when the course is completed, and the page shows that TUC issued it and that nothing has changed since. You can also paste the link into TRUE Verify. The answer comes in a few seconds, and you do not need an account.
Ann-Louise Rubin is responsible for systems at TUC. Her job is to find the work that takes longer than it should. For years one process resisted.
“We used to print every single certificate by hand. Then we chased signatures from department heads, filled envelopes and checked addresses, only for a batch of them to bounce back when students had moved and forgotten to update their details.”
The failure was that the school's most important document depended on a home address the student gave when the programme started.
Because TUC is a vocational college, and a Swedish vocational college reports to Myndigheten för yrkeshögskolan. Every certificate had to be scanned and sent on.
So the sequence ran: create the document digitally, print it, sign it, scan it back in, post the paper, and send the scan to the authority. A digital file became paper and then became a file again, and a person did every step.
“It took time, it went wrong easily, and honestly it was nobody's favourite job.”
TRUE was connected to the learning platform TUC already runs. A completed course now produces a finished certificate: no printing, no envelopes, no chasing signatures, and nothing to post to an address that may be out of date.
“What I love most is that we now have a direct connection between TRUE and our LMS. The manual work is gone, and with it a lot of stress.”
Several thousand certificates have been issued this way, and they have been viewed tens of thousands of times. The recipient cannot lose one, which quietly removes the returns problem rather than solving it.
TUC has launched new programmes and opened a campus in Skellefteå. Every new programme used to add its own share of printing, signing and scanning, which is the kind of cost that scales with success and is easy to miss until it hurts.
